Well it was a close one, waiting to see which would cave first, the Chicago Teachers Union, Mayor Rahm, or my sanity. After 7 glorious kid-filled, Norman Rockwell-esque strike days, the kids are back in school, and I have one less excuse to not be writing. Though there was that week of intense cramps, nausea, headaches and overall feminine maladies to remind me that no, I’m not getting any younger and that my hormones are, just like the teachers’ union, demanding more air conditioning and willing to shut down the system to get it. That kind of pressure counts as an excuse to stay in bed, let alone stop writing.

I offer that as a sort of explanation for my blog absence. I also want to use this space to ask a favor. I recently completed a book tour circuit (ok, it was two stops, but that qualifies as a circuit. Really. I looked it up.). One tip I picked up while immersing myself in the book scene was the importance of reviews and ratings. So I’m asking all you loved ones who have words of praise for my novel to PLEASE take a moment to write an Amazon or Goodreads review. You could truly be the flapping butterfly wing that starts the tsunami. You could be the black speck on the butterfly’s wing…. And you will never again feel unimportant!
