I recently gave my first public reading, and somehow managed to stave off most of my fears until the morning of the event. That’s when the catastrophic thinking kicked in. What if no one shows? What if too many people show? What if my tongue gets tied, my face turns red, my palms sweat, or I literally fall over? What if I choke on a sip of water? What if I have a wardrobe malfunction? (I’ll stop there….trust me when I say it gets crazier.)

I needed help, so I reached for my deck of Doreen Virtue Angel Cards. I usually pull one each morning, and have gotten some amazing and serendipitous messages. This morning I didn’t get that far. As I shuffled, one card leaped from the deck and landed at my feet. When I saw the words, I had to laugh. “Hello From Heaven, your loved ones in heaven are doing fine.” There was the title of my book, right on the card. I quickly checked the rest of the deck (I use two decks together, so there are 84 total cards) to see if any other card had those 3 words. Nope. I held the card next to my book and noticed that it matched quite nicely. It was the same purple color.

Okay. Message received. Someone had my back. I thought of my grandma, who died two months ago. And my grandpa, who went long before I had a chance to know him. Both inspired characters in Hello Loved Ones and certain scenes are echoes of stories I’d heard about them. I hope they enjoyed the reading. I know I did.
